What Does Telematics Mean?
Telematics is the convergence of TELEcommunications & inforMATIon processing to deliver location and geo-spatial results through the use of GPS devices and GPRS data feeds. It is derived from the Greek “tele”(far away) and “Matos”(self-acting)

What Is GPS?

GPS means Global Positioning System. It is a network of 24 - 32 satellites in the immediate vicinity of the earth’s outer space orbit that transmit their positions on a constant basis to special receivers on earth.  With this information the receiver is able to calculate its position within a few meters. This information is then uploaded automatically to a tracking server and the vehicle’s position displayed on street level digital maps or converted to format texts.

What Does GPRS Mean?

GPRS - General Packet Radio Service. General Packet Radio Service is a packet-switching technology that enables data transfers through GSM cellular networks. It is used for mobile internet, MMS, Telematics,  and other data communications processes.

How Extensive Is PrimeTrack’s Tracking Coverage?
Our tracking devices work with the local GSM SIM modules for the respective countries, in Nigeria principally with the Glo & MTN networks. This means that the coverage is extensive. In the event that your vehicle enters an area where there is no GSM coverage the unit stores all the GPS positions in memory and automatically uploads this info once the vehicle re-enters a coverage area. Our units have the ability to store up to 50,000 positions and events, which equates to several years of tracking information.

Can PrimeTrack Devices Be Fitted To Any Make Of Vehicle?
Absolutely.
A GPS tracker can be fitted into any vehicle, passenger or commercial. It can be fitted into anything from a light motor vehicle to a heavy goods vehicle, or a trailer. The unit can even be fitted to things like motorcycles, jet-ski’s, ATV’s and many other assets that may need to be tracked.

What Happens If I Sell My Vehicle?

You have a choice between these two options:
  1. We can remove the unit and transfer it to your new vehicle. You will, however, be charged a service fee unless you are a fleet client
  2. You may leave the unit in the vehicle and the new owner may take over the service contract. We will also give 1 month’s free recharge service if you immediately enter a new contract for your new vehicle

Do I Need To Come To Your Office To Have The Tracker Installed?

This is up to you. Our engineers are mobile – and you may request that we come carry out the installation at your preferred location at no extra cost if you are in any of our base locations (Lagos, Ibadan, Abuja, Warri, Asaba, Benin, Port Harcourt & Kaduna). Installations to be done outside the above-listed locations will attract a marginal extra fee

Can I monitor my vehicle using my smartphone?
Yes!
Our tracking centre has a Lite or mobile version which is a simplified replica of the main tracking server. With this you can locate, control and secure your fleet of vehicles on any mobile device: BlackBerry, Nokia, iPhone, iPad or Android!

Why Do I Have to Pay A Monthly Subscription Fee For Your Service?

Not exactly – you do not have to pay a monthly fee for our service. However, you do need to ensure sufficient credit balance in the SIM card for the tracker to have uninterrupted access to our tracking servers. There are no other service or hidden costs outside of this

Does The tracker Affect The Smooth Operation of The Vehicle In Any Way?

No

Does the Tracker Send Out Any SMS or Email Alerts?

Yes.
Our trackers are ‘intelligent’. They automatically send out email notifications to pre-set recipients whenever vehicle battery is removed, speed limit breached, vehicle enters a non-approved area, or any other breach is detected. For security reasons, we disable the SMS function to prevent unauthorised persons from accessing clients tracking information. Emails are much more secure

What Do I Do If My Car Is Snatched?
  1. SAFETY FIRST – Take necessary precautions to ensure neither you nor other occupants of the vehicle are in harm’s way
  2. REPORT THE THEFT – Lodge a car snatching report at the nearest police station to the scene of the incident
  3. NOTIFY PRIMETRACK – Call or send a text to PrimeCARE on 08033636033, an email to: sos@primetracknigeria.com or contact your PrimeTrack account officer to have your car tracked and secured for recovery

Is PrimeTrack A Legitimate Vehicle Tracking Company?
Yes.
We are duly registered with the CAC as a limited liability company and fully licensed by the NCC as a provider of vehicular tracking services to the general public
